Elizabeth Braw
On Wednesday, October 30th, the EU Academy had the privilege of hosting, a prominent voice in global security and a senior fellow with the Atlantic Council’s Transatlantic Security Initiative - Elizabeth Braw.
Braw offered a thought-provoking analysis of current evolving threats, emphasising how national security challenges have become increasingly complex, often presenting themselves in ways that go beyond military means. Braw named cyber threats, and economic coercion as prime examples of the significant challenges facing national security today.
This lecture was a highly valuable opportunity for our participants to deepen their understanding of various security threats and explore ways to mitigate them.
Throughout the lecture, Braw shared real-world examples of non-militaristic security threats and asked participants if they could recall these events from their own knowledge. This actively engaged participants as they were included in the discussion!
Finally, we concluded with a dynamic question-and-answer session in which our participants were able to pose questions and dive deeper into the topics she covered.
When asked if she had any advice for individuals pursuing a career in foreign affairs, Braw assured participants that they are already on the right track, emphasizing that the key is to learn from and experience other cultures!
