This Monday at the GPRG EU Academy, our fellows had the chance to connect with Karin Thalberg for a lecture on one of the EU’s biggest challenges right now: the European Green Deal.
Karin, who recently worked as a Research Fellow at the Jacques Delors Institute, shared her unique journey into European affairs, which is something she didn’t start out in, but now feels deeply passionate about.
With a background in human geography and environmental social sciences, Karin has been able to convey a refreshing, down-to-earth perspective on what the Green Deal really means for people, communities, and our planet and how these pillars are interconnected.
We delved into critical topics that goes from energy sufficiency to climate justice, and how the Green Deal needs to ensure that no one gets left behind in the transition.
Karin also highlighted the political struggles and public trust issues surrounding the Green Deal, giving us a well-rounded view of both its potential and its challenges for Europe.
Our fellows asked great questions, and there was plenty of space for everyone to reflect on the future they want to help shape based on their beliefs, values and priorities.
A heartfelt thank you to Karin for generously sharing her expertise and personal journey with us. It was truly a pleasure to have her with us at the EU Academy.
